Band: ESP
Title: ESP
Forged Records ESPOO1CDESP are a fairly new band (formed 1995) based in the West Midlands. Their debut album features 10 tracks all with good structure and strong instrumental work, mainly along the lines of AOR rock/ballads. Vocals across the album are shared between Jacqueline Pickett and lead guitarist Paul Maclean, with the former's vocals being particularly strong. Where the band rock out on tracks such as "Pass Another Bottle" or "Laughing Gas", the guitar work from Paul Maclean is very good, although this is definitely spoiled somewhat by the poor production quality on these tracks. I suspect the band would sound particularly good if seen performing live. The album is worth a listen thought and I would suggest that those people with Internet access give their web site (http://www.villager.net.esp) an access, where the band have included clips from several of the tracks on this album. The CD is available directly from the band at £10 from ESP c/o 45 Worcester St., Stourbridge, West Midlands, DY8 lAX, England.
